Common troubleshooting with SUNWAYS STH 4-12KTL-HT

1. Troubleshoot classification​:

General fault: inverter can recover after clearing the trouble.​

Internal fault: inverter usually can’t recover because of the fault of some components.​

System fault: Regarding to power meter, battery and monitoring platform​.

 

2. Mains Lost​:

  1. Check whether the AC side air switch is closed​
  2. ​Use a multimeter to measure whether there is voltage in the power grid and confirm whether the power is off.​
  3. Check whether the AC wiring is correct, and whether the neutral wire and ground wire are connected correctly.​
  4. Check whether the Vac display on the inverter display is correct.​

 

3. Grid Voltage Fault​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. The AC line is connected incorrectly.​
  2. The safety setting is wrong.​
  3. The voltage at AC terminal is too high​.

Solution:​

  1. Measure AC voltage with a multimeter.​
  2. Check whether the safety regulations are selected correctly.​
  3. Whether the cable selection is reasonable. For example, the cable is thin, and the line impedance is high, causing the voltage on the inverter side to rise.​

 

4. Grid Frequency Fault​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. The safety regulations are set incorrectly.​
  2. The quality of the power grid is poor.​
  3. The frequency is out of range due to power grid fluctuations.​

Solution:​

  1. Make sure the AC terminal is correctly connected.​
  2. Check whether the safety setting is correct, 50HZ or 60HZ.​

 

5. DCI Fault​:

Cause analysis: ​DC injection high. inverter detects a higher DC component in AC output​.

Solution:​ Restart the inverter, normally it can recover. If still can’t recover, report to Sunways​.

 

6. ISO Over Limitation​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. Poor insulation performance of photovoltaic modules​.
  2. Water in connectors and wiring tubes​.
  3. The influence of weather and humidity (cloudy and rainy days)​.
  4. Inverter detection module problem​.

Solution:​

  1. Through the exclusive method, locate the faulty string.​
  2. Check whether the cables and connectors are damaged, or water entered.​

 

7. GFCI Fault​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. The cables, connectors and components are damaged.​
  2. The leakage current increases due to rainy days or humid environment.

Solution:​

  1. Through the exclusive method, locate the faulty string.​
  2. If this error only occurs on a cloudy or rainy day or in the morning, the leakage current is too large due to the aging of the PV modules. The error will be automatically cleared when it is sunny or when the air humidity decreases​.

 

8. PV Over Voltage​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. PV input voltage is too high.​

Solution​:

  1. Use multimeter to measure the input voltage of inverter. If it exceed  the max MPPT Voltage Range​
  2. Check if the volage of measuring and that of the display shows are same. If differs very much , maybe the inverter fault.​

 

9. Bus Voltage Fault​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. Bus voltage is too high.​

Solution:​

  1. Restart the inverter, wait a moment for recovery.​ If fault occurs repeatedly, report to Sunways. 

 

10. Inverter Over Temperature​:

Cause analysis:​

  1. The temperature of the interior of the inverter is excessively high and out of the safe range.​
  2. The air vent/ fan is blocked up​.
  3. The temperature of environment is too high.​
  4. Inverter is closed to some high temperature objects​.
  5. The distance between inverters is too small.​

Solution:​

  1. Clean the air vent / fan.​
  2. Installing the inverter meet the reequipments as user manual.​
  3. Keep away from the high temperature objects​.

 

11. Relay Check Fail​:

Solution:​

  1. Use a multimeter to check the voltage of every two lines whether there is short circuit.​
  2. The AC cable connection is unreliable, causing the machine to report an error.​

 

12. Meter Comm Fault​:

Solution:

  1. Check the Meter wiring.​
  2. Check whether the Meter is normal.​

 

13. Battery Fault​:

Solution:​

  1. Restart the inverter.​
  2. Seek for help from the installer or manufacture.​

 

14. Data abnormal​:

Solution:​

  1. Check the communication between battery and inverter​.
  2. Battery might internally fault, seek for help from the installer or manufacture.​
